Former US Lacrosse Mens Game Director Brings Wealth of Experience to New Role

Atlanta, GA – February 7, 2012 – LB3 Lacrosse is pleased to announce the addition of Brian Silcott to the LB3 Team.  Silcott, most recently the Mens Game Director at US Lacrosse, will take over all day-to-day operations at LB3 including LB3 Camps, Clinics, Tournaments, Leagues and Travel Teams.

A former MLL and NLL player (1994 to 2005), Silcott was also NCAA Midfielder of the Year, 1st Team All American and National Champion while at Nazareth College.  He has both managed and coached in the college and professional lacrosse ranks, and founded and grew Rhino Lacrosse LLC into the premier lacrosse instructional organization in the Northwestern US between 2006 and 2008.

“We are extremely fortunate to have someone of Brian’s stature join LB3” said Liam Banks. “Not only was Brian a great player and coach at the highest levels of the game, but he also brings a wealth of lacrosse industry experience and knowledge to LB3 which will be invaluable as we continue to grow the instructional lacrosse programs we offer and the places we offer them.”

“For me, this opportunity is far more than just a job” said Brian Silcott. “I am moving to Atlanta to build something special with Liam and LB3. There are lots of folks out there running lacrosse programs. Our plan is quite simply to do it better. Liam and I have been friends for a long time and have worked together many times in the past. I believe in the way he teaches the game. We always push each other to work harder on and off the field. I’m also excited at the prospect of directly influencing the development of young players. It’s in my DNA, and my involvement recently has been more indirect.“

School hosting clinic to get outdoor season started

The 6th Annual LB3/Ward Melville-Style Lacrosse Clinic will be held on Saturday, March 3 at the Shipley School Farm Fields in Gladwyne.  The event, hosted by Shipley School Boys’ Lacrosse, runs from Noon-4 p.m. and is for boys aged 8-to-18.

The clinic serves as a nicely-timed tune-up for the spring season. Headed by LB3 founder Liam Banks, a standout from Ward Melville and Syracuse University, many of the the instructors are grads of the famed Long Island high school program that produced Banks and so many others that starred at the college and pro levels.

“We are so excited to come back and do this sixth annual clinic,” said Banks, Head of Sports Marketing Southeast for Warrior and Brine. “This kind of helps the boys get the rust off and brings the Ward Melville style and attitude to teach the way we were taught.”

The clinic will focus on passing, catching, shooting, defense, dodging, defensive positioning, face-offs, goaltending and many other facets of the game as a prelude to the start of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association season on Monday, March 5.

Besides Banks, other instructors that graduated from Ward Melville will include Mark Duncan (Lehigh attackman, head coach at Shipley); Tim Goldstein (former Cornell attackman); Dennis Goldstein (former UNC attackman); J.P. Banks (former Johns Hopkins goalie and current head coach at Upper Dublin and co-coach for LB3); Kevin Banks (former Hobart goalie); and Bob Betcher (played at Ohio Wesleyan, former Duke assistant).

High School Players Support Worthy Cause

On Saturday January 7, Liam Banks’s LB3 High School summer travel team players gathered at their home fields at Mill Springs Academy to play a round robin of 7v7 games among 4 teams made up of Freshman, Sophomores and Juniors. Liam Banks, Bryan Wallace and Devin Madden suited up, shared the field, shared some laughs and most importantly shared in the great game of lacrosse.

As well, the LB3 High School players collected footwear for a wonderful charity called “Soles4Souls”.  As you can see in the picture we collected tubs and tubs of shoes to donate to those who need them very much. So not only did we get to play a lot of lacrosse and bond as a summer club, but we also contributed to a charity that we know will help people less fortunate than ourselves.

The LB3 family continues to grow. Happy 2012!
